Valley of the Silk Sky Chapter 3

I expect I’ll finish up the art for the final page of chapter 3 today, which means the whole dang thing will be in the can prior to the start date of June 3. HECK YEAH.

As per usual, I’ve scheduled a mid-chapter break where I do a bunch of world-building posts over on the Valley of the Silk Sky website. These are not essential homework for following the story; they’re just there for people (like me) who enjoy the finer details of all this made-up stuff. Where can you find them? Why, just over here.

I have two more to post this week (on Daraz writing systems, and on the nature of human interaction with the Daraz).

Oh, also, I’ve added another show to the convention schedule. I’ll be at the Queer Comics Expo in San Francisco next month, June 20-21. It’ll be held at the Cartoon Art Museum. More deets on that as it approaches.

See you next week for the start of chapter 3!

Cheers,

Dylan

The conclusion to chapter 2 awaits you at these locations:

AND SO. Chapter 3 will begin on June 3 (or June 1 if you’re a $1+ Patron). I’m excited for this, because it has taken every ounce of my willpower not to spoilerize the crap out of Chapter 3. It’s Just Gonna Be Like That.

Next week will be your regularly-scheduled between-chapters worldbuilding extravaganza over at the VoSS website. So follow along over there if you’re burning to know more about Daraz technology and social order.

Denver Comic Con

And yes, I will be at Denver Comic Con this weekend, May 22-24, 2015!

You can find me at the Northwest Press booth, which I believe is #953.

I’ll also be speaking on the Trans and Genderqueer Representation in Comics panel – Sunday 2:05 – 2:55 – Room 505.

SEE YOU THERE.

Cheers,

Dylan

VoSS: The Long Run page 17 is up! It was last spotted in these locations:

Come to think of it, the whole “you’re getting warmer/colder” idiom for directing someone to a hidden object would work well for the Daraz.

In other VoSS news, I’m plowing through coloring the pages for chapter 3 (everything is penciled and inked, so it’s all about the finishing). Right now it’s looking like chapter 3 will start on June 3, so that should be easy enough to remember.

The Queers & Comics Conference this past weekend was truly an amazing experience. I wrote about it a little here. I really hope this event continues, because damn. A conference hall full of queer cartoonists is a beautiful sight indeed.

Cheers,

Dylan

It was very difficult not to post this page immediately after (or, indeed, before) I finished it. BUT IT IS HERE NOW:

Speaking of being places, I’ll be at the Queers & Comics Conference in New York this week, May 7-8.

I’m on three panels: May 7 it’s Queer Memoir from 9:00 – 10:45 AM, and Trans/Genderqueer Character Design from 2:15 – 4:00 PM. Then I’ll be signing at the Prism Comics booth from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.

May 8 I’ll be signing from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, then speaking on the Queer Male Identity in Comics panel from 4:15 – 6:00 PM.

On Saturday, May 9, I’ll be at the School of Visual Arts (133-141 W. 21 St., Rm 101C), along with 30-odd other comix folk, to do a big ol’ queer comics reading. The event goes from 1:30 – 3:30.

See you there!

Cheers,

Dylan

A couple more reviews for the new PiQue collection from Northwest Press have come in:

The Lambda Literary Review says it’s “an insightful, humorous and unique comic.”

Over at Panel Patter, they declare it to be “a fun, clever story, somewhat akin to a drawing room comedy.”
