Taxonomically Unbound - When vultures fly, do they bring carrion items.

Yes indeed, a new Taxonomically Unbound makes itself known today. It lives in these places:

I thought I was going to have another announcement today, but it has not yet been officially announced. So. I may well be posting again shortly, just waiting for a green light.

ANYway. Do carrion.

Cheers,

Dylan

Taxonomically Unbound: If you bother everyone for basil, olive oil, and pine nuts, you might make a pesto yourself.

It’s been awhile, but I finally got around to making a bunch of new Taxonomically Unbound comics. These are my Most Worst Puns illustrated with various doodles and sketches I’ve done.

I’ll be running these weekly throughout the rest of 2018, so brace yourselves.

The first of the new batch may be seen in these places:

Meanwhile, the STAPLE! Independent Media Expo is this very weekend Sept 8-9 in Austin, Texas, you’ll find me there at table 20A with my various comics and Feeping Creatures monster art.

I will also be on a panel on Saturday, Sept. 9 in The Theater:

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: LGBTQIA Comics Panel – Prominent & Emerging Comics Creators discuss their work and experiences in the comics industry. With Lilah Sturges, Jeremy Holt, Alex Grandstaff & Dylan Edwards. Moderated by Sarah Marloff of the Austin Chronicle.

See you this weekend, Austin!

Cheers,

Dylan

As mentioned previously, I’ll be running new Taxonomically Unbound comics this fall, and I now have an official start date worked out. So! Look for them to commence publication here on Studio NDR on Thursday, September 6.

As with other comics o’ mine, $1+ Patrons get ’em first, so I will once again be running them on Mondays for patrons. That means a start date of Monday, Sept. 3 for those fine folks.

$1+ Patrons will also be getting glimpses of my current work-in-progress, a new Valley of the Silk Sky short story to be published in an upcoming anthology. Patrons will be (or have already been!) getting concept art, thumbnails, pencils, and other peeks behind the curtain.

Finally, the STAPLE! Independent Media Expo is nearly upon us! It’s happening Sept 8-9 in Austin, Texas, and I’ll be there with my various comics and Feeping Creatures monster art.

So if you’re STAPLE!-bound, add that to yer to-see list.

Cheers,

Dylan

FlameCon approaches; We’re Still Here is out; New Taxonomically Unbound in the works

FlameCon approaches; We’re Still Here is out; New Taxonomically Unbound in the works published on

FlameCon is next weekend, August 18-19! You can find me at table M86A throughout the weekend, selling my comics and art.

I also have a panel on Saturday, August 18, from 7:00pm – 7:45pm:

Memoir Comics: Picturing a Queer Self

I expect my piece for We’re Still Here will come up on the discussion. Speaking of which, the book is now available! Either at that link I just linked, or in person at the show.

As far as new comics are concerned, I have a new Valley of the Silk Sky short story in the works for an upcoming anthology. That means it’s going to be awhile before I’ll be running the ol’ VotSS webcomic, so in the meantime, I’ll be publishing a bunch of new Taxonomically UnBound comics I’ve been crafting.

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen my occasional pun tweets. TaxoUnbo is me taking those tweets and illustrating them with sometimes relevant (and sometimes not) doodle art.

My plan is to start running the new comics in September, so stay tuned.

Cheers,

Dylan

Tiny Art Big Ideas opens tonight

Tiny Art Big Ideas opens tonight published on

Feeping Creatures monster art by Dylan Edwards

Now that the chaos of SDCC is done, it’s time to move on to the next chaos: the Tiny Art Big Ideas show here in Denver, hosted by Spectra Art Space.

The concept for the show is simple: dozens of artists have submitted hundreds of works, all of which are 6 in x 6 in x 6in or smaller. Hence Tiny Art!

My work for this show mostly focuses on the Feeping Creatures side of my creative endeavors, so look for wee monsters in the form of sculptures, drawings, and enamel pins.

The opening reception for the show is tonight, July 27, at 7:00 PM. You should come to that if you can. If not, the show will be up for the next month, so you still have plenty of time to look at all the itty bitty arts.

Cheers,

Dylan

Valley of the Silk Sky

Ordinarily I’d have posted this page on Thursday, but I will be thoroughly ensconced in San Diego Comic Con at that point, so instead enjoy this Tuesday night update.

“Can you not schedule posts?”

Er, I mean, probably? But I’m not sure how on this particular setup? So EARLY UPDATE IT IS:

I DO know how to schedule posts on Patreon and Tumblr, so those will post on Thursday as per usual.

Anyhow, here’s a reminder of where I shall be at SDCC:

The San Diego Comic Book Concern and Entertainment Emporium (July 18-22, 2018)

Small Press L-05 is where I’ll be camped out in general throughout the week. Come buy some comics!

I am also on two panels:

Transformation Magic: Transgender Life in Comics from Street Level to the Stratosphere – Thursday, July 19, 6:00 PM – Room 28DE

Also, I believe Tara will be there with Stacked Deck Press and fresh, new copies of We’re Still Here, the all-trans anthology I’m in, so come to the panel on Thursday to find out more.

Secret Loves of Geeks – Sunday, July 22, 11:00 AM – Room 32AB

I’ll also be doing a signing at the Dark Horse Comics booth, along with several other creators featured in the Secret Loves of Geeks anthology, just after the Secret Loves of Geeks panel, from 12:30 – 1:15 on Sunday, July 22. This would be a great time to snag some sigs on your copy of the book!

Ha ha, I’m already tired just thinking about it.

See you there!

Dylan

Finally a word about advertising

Maybe you know this, and maybe you don’t, but Project Wonderful has closed its doors. I ran ads through them to help defray the costs of hosting this website, and while the money I made from advertising never fully covered those costs, it was still much appreciated.

At this time I don’t have plans for any new ad hosting. If you enjoy my work and want to help with the expenses I take on to maintain this site, please do consider becoming a regular Patron, or giving a one-time donation via Ko-Fi (they suggest $3, you can put in whatever dollar amount you like).

Cheers,

Dylan
