Valley of the Silk Sky: “Medicine; Run” proceeds apace; SDCC approaches published on
Valley of the Silk Sky: Medicine Run

If you’re wondering why things have been quiet here these last few weeks, it’s because I’ve been focusing on posting updates over on the Valley of the Silk Sky website.

You can, for example, read several pages of “Medicine; Run” right now, as I work my way through the weekly serialization of this short story.

You can also buy the minicomic edition if you’re impatient, or if you prefer to read in print. Neat!

Will I ever post this short story to Studio NDR? I don’t know! Maybe. I just feel a bit overwhelmed with maintaining a billion websites and social media accounts, ha ha. For now, it lives in its own little corner of the web.

Meanwhile, SDCC

Monster Journey trans masculine comics anthology

Yes, I’ll be there! Once again you can find me in Small Press, where I will be sharing table L-06 with Stacked Deck Press (publisher of We’re Still Here, in which I have a short story, as well as several queer & trans-themed coloring books in which I have illustrations).

I’ll have a few copies of Monster Journey, the all-trans masc anthology from Pocket Bear Press in which I have an exclusive new Valley of the Silk Sky short story.

If you can’t make it to SDCC, you can snag Monster Journey online in either physical or e-book form.

I’m also working on some Feeping Creatures micro zines, featuring a bunch of artwork you probably haven’t seen before, so keep an eyeball out for those as well.

So yeah, been busy, even if I don’t always manage to post about it here!

Valley of the Silk Sky

Ordinarily I’d have posted this page on Thursday, but I will be thoroughly ensconced in San Diego Comic Con at that point, so instead enjoy this Tuesday night update.

“Can you not schedule posts?”

Er, I mean, probably? But I’m not sure how on this particular setup? So EARLY UPDATE IT IS:

I DO know how to schedule posts on Patreon and Tumblr, so those will post on Thursday as per usual.

Anyhow, here’s a reminder of where I shall be at SDCC:

The San Diego Comic Book Concern and Entertainment Emporium (July 18-22, 2018)

Small Press L-05 is where I’ll be camped out in general throughout the week. Come buy some comics!

I am also on two panels:

Transformation Magic: Transgender Life in Comics from Street Level to the Stratosphere – Thursday, July 19, 6:00 PM – Room 28DE

Also, I believe Tara will be there with Stacked Deck Press and fresh, new copies of We’re Still Here, the all-trans anthology I’m in, so come to the panel on Thursday to find out more.

Secret Loves of Geeks – Sunday, July 22, 11:00 AM – Room 32AB

I’ll also be doing a signing at the Dark Horse Comics booth, along with several other creators featured in the Secret Loves of Geeks anthology, just after the Secret Loves of Geeks panel, from 12:30 – 1:15 on Sunday, July 22. This would be a great time to snag some sigs on your copy of the book!

Ha ha, I’m already tired just thinking about it.

See you there!

Finally a word about advertising

Maybe you know this, and maybe you don’t, but Project Wonderful has closed its doors. I ran ads through them to help defray the costs of hosting this website, and while the money I made from advertising never fully covered those costs, it was still much appreciated.

At this time I don’t have plans for any new ad hosting. If you enjoy my work and want to help with the expenses I take on to maintain this site, please do consider becoming a regular Patron, or giving a one-time donation via Ko-Fi (they suggest $3, you can put in whatever dollar amount you like).

Cheers,

Dylan

Queer Comics by Dylan Edwards

San Diego Comic Con (or Comic Con International, if you prefer) is next week! Am I ready? Is anyone ready?

As per previous years, you can find me and my books at the Northwest Press section of the PRISM Comics booth #2144.

I’m also on two panels this year:

Queer Representation in All-Ages and Youth Media
Friday, July 22 at 10:00 AM in Room 4

Gays (And More) in Comics (And More)
Saturday, July 23 at 6:00 PM in Room 29AB

If you have the Comic Con app you can use those links to bookmark the panels in your schedule. I’m moderating the Queer Rep in Youth Media panel, so come to the thing to hear me ask HARD HITTING questions about LIBRARIES.

As for Other Things: I’ve been busily thumbnailing the comics project that is currently keeping me from working on Valley of the Silk Sky, so that one’s proceeding apace. Also been working on character designs for another anthology piece.

If you’re looking for stuff to read in the meantime, you can always hit up my Patreon. For the next few months I’ll be serializing my Valley of the Silk Sky story from Beyond, and including world-building commentary. A mere one dollar a month grants you admission, and your financial support allows me to continue focusing on comics.

Cheers,

Dylan

Valley of the Silk Sky queer YA science fiction webcomic

Valley of the Silk Sky page 23 finds Razi in a spot of bother. Read all about it here:

Meanwhile, San Diego Comic Con is even more nigh than it was last week when I proclaimed it to be nigh. And next week it shall be the nighest of all. You will mostly be able to find me at the Northwest Press table in the Prism Comics megabooth (#2144, or just look for the gayness).

Also. ALSO! You should absolutely, definitely come to the panel I’ll be on, Writing Transgender Characters, on Thursday July 9, 5:00 PM, in room 28DE.

What else. I just wrapped up a short piece for an anthology that I believe will be coming out this fall, or possibly winter. More deets on that as I have them.

Now it’s back to working on VoSS. The thumbnails of Chapter 4 are all set, so it is time to pencil, gosh darnit.

Cheers,

Dylan
