Politically InQueerect

This week’s Politically InQueerect page is now up on Tapastic!

And today the madness that is Comic Con begins. If you’re in San Diego for the show, you can find me at the Prism Comics booth (#2144), chillin’ with the Northwest Press gang. I’ll have my TransTransformers prints for sale, and of course copies of Transposes. I’ll also have a bunch of original art with me, so come visit to look and buy!

I’m also going to be on the queer webcomics panel titled Bizarre? Queer? Perfect: Taming the Wild Webcomics Frontier, which is happening on Thursday, July 18 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM in room 28DE. If you’re using Comic Con’s panel scheduler, use this here link.

Come hear us natter on about the creative process and give tips on how to promote your own queer webcomic. I will, of course, be dishing out free Politically InQueerect bookmarks, so please come snag one, either at the panel or at the Prism booth. Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Dylan

New comic day! In which a perfectly cordial exchange of ideas ensues, and no thoughts of murder are entertained. Clicken zie link for to read.

Thanks, by the way, to everyone who came by the Northwest Press booth at the LA Times Festival of Books. We had a great time and enjoyed meeting you all. It was pretty busy there, with not a lot of down time, but somehow Jon Macy and I still managed to stage an art battle. The results are below, and are a testament to the fact that you should not leave mostly blank white paper in the company of artists

(Apologies to Samuel James Finch, who I guess left his zine at the booth at some point; I did actually read it and your stuff was actually good, I just … WHITE PAPER NOM NOM NOM.)

Politically InQueerect 203

And now, it being Wednesday, it is time for your remastered in color Politically InQueerect. Archer is pretty sure this strip is none of your damn business, but you’re gonna read it anyway, aren’t you.

Politically InQueerect bookmarks

Perhaps you would also be interested to learn that I’ve had a mess o’ PIQue bookmarks printed as a promo thing to hand out at shows. Your first opportunity to snag one of these things is this very weekend, April 20-21, at the LA Times Festival of Books, where I will be tabling with Northwest Press. This will be my first time at this show, so I’m excited to see how it goes! It’s FREE, so if you’re in southern California, do make an effort to stop by.

Maybe you’re wondering who that is surrounded by all those bookmarks? She’s a new character that has been fomenting in my mind. Not sure when you’ll get to meet her all proper-like, but I strongly suspect she’s going to turn out to be Dee’s DM. (As in Dungeons and Dragons, not that other thing.) It’s one of those things where, as the mere writer, it’s really not up to me. All I can do is observe and take notes.

Okay? Okay. That’s it. See you next week!

Cheers,

Dylan

STAPLE! this weekend, March 2-3

STAPLE! this weekend, March 2-3 published on No Comments on STAPLE! this weekend, March 2-3

Crazy busy this week getting ready for STAPLE! The Independent Media Expo, which is now upon us. I have to leave in, like, 20 minutes to go set up. So if you’re in Austin and want to grab a copy of Transposes, or check out some art for my upcoming TransTransformers story for QU33R, or you need some feeps, head on down.

Cheers,

Dylan

Let’s kick Decepticon Butt!

A quick cellphone shot of some in-progress inks for my TransTransformers story for QU33R. I’m nearly done with ’em, just a page and a third left to go. Then it’s time to color this thang!

Meanwhile, I have a whole passel of events coming up in March. First up is STAPLE! The Independent Media Expo in Austin, TX. Once again, I expect it shall be a fine extravaganza of indie media from Austin and beyond. Want some TransTransformers prints? I’ll have them at the show for your gender-bending robot needs. I will also have copies of Transposes, of course, as well as original art and feeps.

After that I’m off to California for a pair of back-to-back events in the San Francisco area. First up, on March 18, is the Noe Valley WordWeek LGBT panel. I’ll be doing a reading from Transposes, alongside other LGBT authors reading from their books. It’s being held at a brew pub, so really you have no excuse not to go.

Then, on March 19, I’ll be in the Mission District of SF for a reading/art event at Alley Cat Books, also in conjunction with several other creators. I’ll read something different from what I read the previous night, and the other panelists will be different each night, so come to both! It’s a different show each night.

For more specifics on the where and the when for each of these things, hit up my Appearances Page.

See you soon!

Skull Bentling by Dylan Edwards

Yes indeed, it is Bent-Con time. The show starts tomorrow, Nov. 30, and runs through Dec. 2. It’s all queer comics and media, all the time. How can you resist? If you’re in southern California this weekend, please drop by.

I’ll be hanging out at the Northwest Press booth to sign copies of Transposes, and I’ll have my original pages with me just in case you were interested in purchasing such a thing (ahem-hem). I also have a few pieces for sale in the Bent-Con art show, including my Bentling illustration here (of course I did the skull Bentling … how could I not?).

So yes. This weekend. Burbank, CA (a stone’s throw from Los Angeles). Queer comics and media. Check the Bent-Con website for further deets. Hope to see you there!

Also, don’t forget to sign up for the Transposes giveaway on Goodreads, if you haven’t already. It closes at midnight on Sunday night, so don’t miss out, yeah?

The weekend of November 30 – December 2, 2012 you will find me in Burbank, CA at Bent-Con! This is a convention dedicated entirely to queer comics and media. How can you resist?

In addition to appearing at the Northwest Press booth to promote Transposes, I’ll also have several pieces for sale in the art show, and I have at least one panel appearance (deets to come later). If you’re going to be in southern California, you really should check it out!

Transposes is officially available, and we’ll have it for sale this weekend, October 13-14, at APE, over at the Northwest Press table. I’ll be there to sign copies, and I’ll also be on the Queer Cartoonists panel on Saturday from 2:45-3:45 PM. If you’re the convention-going type and you’re going to be at this convention, well, come on down and snag yerself a copy. Otherwise, it should be hitting stores within the next week or so.

If digital is more your thing, you can now purchase Transposes on iTunes. Heck, why not get both?

Gonna be in Los Angeles, California this weekend at Comikaze Expo, booth #1638 (listed as Studio NDR). I won’t have copies of the book yet, but I did find a secret stash of the Transposes preview book I made. It features the pencils for Adam’s chapter, a little treat for all you process junkies. These are almost all gone, so come grab one if you’re going to be at the show!

Service Advisory

As I said, this place is not 100% finished. I am still puttering around behind the scenes, trying to fix up this and that, cosmetically improve thus and such. Occasionally my “fixes” are spectacularly awry and I break something, or everything. Did you know if you select a different permalink structure from the one you built the site with, the whole thing goes into the toilet? And if you try to edit the .htaccess file when you have no idea what you’re doing and don’t even really know what an .htaccess file is, the whole thing takes the toilet with it on its way down?

I guess my point is, bear with me. Hopefully any major breakages will be repaired in short order. But if something seems broken for days on end, let me know as I may not have noticed I’d knocked it over.

Also, believe it or not, I’m actually working on some new art. It’s for a Thing, so I have to find out if I can post it here before the Thing. And in a mere two weeks it’ll be time for Comikaze Expo, at which I will (I hope!) have copies of Transposes officially for sale. More deets, obviously, as the date approaches.
